Dog-tober Fest By the Big Fire Hydrant
What a time!! We got our tent (thanks HPHP) set up and three tables of literature and stuff for display set up. Then the dogs went to work inviting folks to come pet them and give us a chance to explain our program, etc. We gave oout workshop pamphlets (lots are interested in Spring or if Vicki has one in January, but there is so much interest; Lots said, "I have always wanted to do this, but didn't know how to get started." we will see if they follow through), Paws general information stuff, bookmarks, coloring books, Safety Around Dogs workbooks, sold a few doggie snap bandanas, shirts, and maybe one set of note cards. But the main thing was the interest in the program. We never sat down. (We being Denice and Mae, Niesy and Orange, Rachael and Tank, Bruce, Holly and me, and then Cathy and Gypsy. Had one librarian stop and discuss the READ. Niesy directed her to the Liberty Librarian to see how she set the program up; one school librarian in Beaumont interested in the READ for the elementary school; and the Beaumont Animal Control Supervisor interested in the Safety Around Dogs program to supplement his program which he is already taking into the elementary schools.
What a day. We started around 8:30 A>M> Had the prime location at the entrance and plenty of room. Left around 1:00 not because of lack of visitors, but we all had commitments and could not stay till 3:30.
Was a good day.

It was a great time! So many people are interested! Also there should be something in the Beaumont Enterprise and also on a local website by the name of www.409now.com. The guy that was taking pictures said he would feature our group on the website. I think it was a great success!
