A call from Michelle Hammerly @ St. Elizabeth

Monday morning I received a call from Michelle Hammerly after a physician gave her the first ever doctor ordered Pet Partner visit at St. Elizabeth. Michelle had called the patient whom she say's is in really bad shape and will brief me on his condition as much as she can in her office (HIPPA Rules...). She called the patients room and he asked her if she had a Dalmation in the program and with Mendi she was able to answer yes. She told him that we are all volunteers and she'd have to find out if Mendi's handler/partner was free. When she asked about me being out of work still I told her yeah and asked what she had in store. She clued me in some but still leaving me blind to a point until I get to her office tommorrow morning. She said that when she told the patient a Dalmation was on the team but she wasn't sure of my availability the patient told her "AS LONG AS I HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO". So Wednesday morning at 9:30 I'll be in her office with Mendi reporting for duty to do a ST. Elizabeth first; which hopefully will have a very positive impact with the patient and open up many more doors for our therapy dogs. I am really looking forward to this visit as this is why we all do what we do. I'll let everyone know the details of hopefully a very happy and great visit considering the circumstances. I imagine we'll be trying to do specific follow ups with the patient if he would like.
