Marjorie is a member of the forum. She works with the Conroe SPCA and she rescues labs. YOu might send her a private message from the forum and see if she has anything for Garrett. Also, you can go on line with the shelter in Beaumont and see what is available there. I know Janeen has a Beagle mixture she rescued and is trying to place. But this dog needs a fenced yard same with Janeen's female English Setter.
Hunting breeds tend to follow their instincts, so fences are imparative to keep them at home.

Then Perry often hears of good dogs needing placement. Want to be sure to get him a dog he can use in visitations. If he were closer, he could use Rosco.

You and I think alike! Lol I printed out some good prospects I found on southeastteaxas.com and brought them to Garrett at church last night. Just as he started grinning about them, his step-mom came in and let me know he can't have a dog until after Christmas. That led me to believe they are getting him a puppy for Christmas, which is sweet, but he'd been waiting for this last one to grow up so he could do more with her, and now he'll have to wait all over again. If he is ready to visit, I'll let him test with Crush and see how he likes it. Then he can work toward a therapy dog of his own.

A Dog for Garrett Empty Garrett and Crush

Since you would be "fostering" Garrett, that will be fine for him to test with Crush. Just remember Garrett will need to do the Home Study Manual and the workshop. Does he want to register for November?

No, unfortunately, Garrett doesn't have a fenced yard. Neither do I, for that matter. We all live on a country road surrounded by Big Thicket. Most dogs in our parts run loose because neighbors are spread so far apart.

Bummer, it sounds like CR 450, except we have a pack of pit bulls on the loose. They just chew through the fences and let themselves in.
